Fort Payne Parks and Recreation Department

The City of Fort Payne, Alabama is currently accepting applications for the following:

Seasonal Athletic Aid – Temporary job from March 15th – July 15th. Works up to 30 hours per week as scheduled. Duties include but not limited to: gate, scoreboard, concession stand and other duties as assigned.

Year Round Athletic Aid – Regular part time position. Works up to 19 hours per week as scheduled. No designated start and end date. Work schedule varies. Duties include but not limited to: gate, scoreboard, concession stand and other duties as assigned.

Lifeguard – Temporary job from May 1st- Sept 30th. Works up to 30 hours per week as scheduled. Duties include but not limited to: lifeguard duties at City Pool and DeSoto Golf Course Pool as scheduled. May be assigned to either pool or splash pad.

Swim Team Coach – Temporary Job – April -August. Works 30 to 40 hours per week. Responsible for operation of the swim team including organizing, completing assigned tasks, working with parent association and coaching swimmers. Splash Pad Attendant – Temporary Job from May 1st – Sept 30th. Works up to 30 hours per week as scheduled. Duties include supervising Splash Pad and other duties as assigned.

Seasonal Parks Maintenance Laborer – Temporary Job from March 1st to September 30th. Works up to 30 hours per week. Duties include but not limited to: weed eating, mowing, trash detail and other duties as assigned. May be assigned to Sports Complex, Golf Course or parks.

Parks & Facility Maintenance – Full Time/Hourly

The City of Fort Payne, Alabama is currently seeking a motivated person to be on the parks and facility maintenance crew for the

Fort Payne Parks and Recreation Department.

• Maintains parks, green spaces, restroom facilities, athletic fields etc.

• Cleans parks, restrooms etc.

• Performs safety inspections on parks and recreation facilities including playgrounds

• Performs basic motor vehicle, equipment and building maintenance

• Must be a self-starter

• Assists with department/city wide events

• Ability to supervise and lead other employees

• Ability to lead, follow and have fun while successfully completing job duties

The minimum education and/or experience required is as follows:

• High School Diploma or GED

• Two year’s related experience/training

• Valid Alabama’s Driver’s License

Preferred education/experience:

• CDL

• Herbicide/Pesticide Spray License

This position will require working nights and weekends. The minimum salary will be $25,685.66 to $33,453.15 annually, -may be negotiable based on education, experience, and other qualifications.
