Fire & Rescue
In addition to fire related services, the agency responds to medical emergencies and provides specialized rescue services such as vehicle extrication, confined space rescue, trench rescue, and high angle rescue. It also provides hazardous materials response for the area. The agency stands-up as a member of the state’s mutual assistance program as a Heavy Rescue Team.
Training for personnel meets the standards as mandated by the Alabama Firefighters Personnel and Education Commission. All personnel are trained to certification levels required by the agency. A new training center went on line in 2003 and the agency was awarded permanent training center status through the Alabama Fire College. This arrangement allows certified training to be done locally for surrounding departments.
