Fort Payne is located between two stunningly scenic mountains, Lookout Mountain and Sand Mountain, which provide unlimited opportunities for relishing the beauty of the outdoors.  Within minutes of the city are state and national parks that provide one with the chance to hike, bike, kayak, camp, fish, or simply be and savor the sounds of the waterfalls and the smells of the wildflowers. Fort Payne also takes great pride in our beautiful city parks, splash pad and pool.

If shopping is your interest, Fort Payne’s downtown area features many shops in which to browse and find treasures.  Also Fort Payne is a stop along the World’s Longest Yard Sale (in August) and Antique Alley (in May) that draw thousands of shoppers to the area.

Throughout the year, Fort Payne is a place of fun and entertainment.  There are festivals throughout the year that celebrate the history of the town, the music of the mountains, and the seasons of the year.  Young and old come out to fellowship and enjoy the spirit of the town as friends and neighbors become a community.

Fort Payne also offers a rich history and legacy from the Trail of Tears to the Mountain Music.  Tour one of the local museums for a glimpse at the history of our area.
