SUBJECT:  Robbery

 

Chief Randy Bynum stated, on June 12, Fort Payne Police Officers responded to 921 Alabama Ave N on a call about a robbery.  It was reported that possibly two males dressed in dark clothing were banging on a door to the residence.  Entry was made into the residence with one suspect wearing a red bandana over his face holding what appeared to be a silver handgun.  The occupants of the residence were all juveniles. One of the four juveniles were struck in the face with a gun. The other three juveniles were hit with fists, opened hand and threatened if they a said a word about the incident. Taken in the robbery were two cell phones which were recovered a short time later on a suspect walking, appearing to match a suspect’s description, also carrying a red bandana. Fort Payne Officers arrested Dylan Jordan Sweeney, age 19 of Cardinal Lane in Fort Payne on the following charges

 

  • Two Counts of Robbery in the 1st Degree
  • Assault 2nd
  • Assault 3rd
  • Assault 3rd
  • Burglary 1st

 

 

The investigation continues in the search of the other suspect. This offender was brought into custody by the quick works of Fort Payne Police Department Officer’s and Detective Jim Phillips who was working another case when he heard this call. Mr. Sweeney’s in the Dekalb County Jail where his bond was set at $106,000.
